Hazing is strictly prohibited at all Mercer campus locations and in all programs and organizations affiliated with Mercer, whether on or off campus. All reports of suspected hazing are investigated under the Student Code of Conduct. Student organizations suspected of hazing will be investigated as outlined under our procedures for Non-Academic Misconduct Process for Student Organizations. If a student or student organization is in violation of the Anti-Hazing Policy, the student or organization may be subject to discipline, including but not limited to probation, suspension or expulsion.

Student Group Name: Gamma Iota Gamma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Date of Incident: October 26-28, 2022
Findings: On 1/13/23, the fraternity was found responsible for hazing in the form of physical hazing
Sanctions: Suspended for at least three years
Removal from List: January 13, 2027
Student Group Name: Alpha Beta chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity

Date of Incident: November 2024 – February 7, 2025
Findings: On 3/6/25, the organization was found responsible for hazing in the form of acts that create excessive fatigue (which includes but is not limited to: forced exercising, congregating at odd hours of the night, and staying awake for long periods of time; Experiencing threatened or actual exposure to physical injury, including injury resulting from whipping, beating, paddling, branding, dangerous physical activity, or exposure to elements.
Sanctions: Suspension – Indefinite
