Study Room in Swilley Library

Purpose

Study rooms are available for students in the Swilley Library on the Atlanta campus.

Scope

This policy applies to all currently enrolled students at Mercer University.

Exclusions

None

Policy Statement

Study rooms that can accommodate 1 to 6 people are available for use by currently registered Mercer students.

  • Mercer University identification (Bear Card) is required for library entry and study room use.
  • Study rooms are available on a first-come, first served basis and may not be saved or reserved.
  • Study rooms are for studying and class-related work only.
  • Doors equipped with Bear Card readers must be tightly closed when leaving the room.
  • Food and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed in the library and individual study spaces.
  • Tobacco, including vaping, is not permitted in study rooms.
  • Personal heaters, surge protectors, and extension cords are not permitted in study rooms.
  • Mobile white boards may not obstruct any window or door.

Failure to abide by this policy may result in immediate restriction from the study rooms and review of violations under the Student Code of Conduct.

Mercer University is not liable for the loss of, or damage to, personal property in a Tarver Library study room, unless such loss or damage is a direct result of University negligence and not the result of fault or negligence on the part of the owner. Any theft should be reported to Mercer Police.
